Two Roads
The Beginning
Carla and John were two fresh high school graduates who had been accepted into their dream universities. Carla had always wanted to be a doctor, so she enrolled in a pre-med program at a prestigious university, while John wanted to be a business mogul, so he decided to attend a well-known business school in the city.
Carla and John came from different backgrounds. Carla had to work two jobs to pay for her education, while John’s parents paid for everything. However, they had one thing in common: they both had a strong desire to succeed.
The Challenge
Carla struggled with her first year of college. She found the coursework to be challenging, and she was constantly working to pay for her tuition, which left her with little time to study. On the other hand, John had everything handed to him, and he breezed through his first year without any issues.
One day, Carla approached John and explained her struggles. John told her that she needed to find a balance and focus on her studies. However, Carla was frustrated with his advice because he had no understanding of the hard work she was putting in just to keep up with her bills.
The Outcome
Carla took John’s advice with a grain of salt and continued to work hard. She eventually ended up receiving a scholarship due to her impressive grades, and she was able to reduce her workload to focus on her studies. Meanwhile, John started off strong in his second year but began to slip when he realized that he couldn't rely solely on his wealth to guarantee his success.
In the end, Carla graduated with high honors and achieved her dream of becoming a doctor, while John struggled to stay afloat and changed his major several times before eventually dropping out of school.
The Lesson
Carla and John's experiences teach us that although we may all have different starting points, it is determination and hard work that will ultimately lead to success. We should never underestimate the power of hard work, and we should never let our circumstances dictate our potential. Every individual has the capacity to achieve greatness, but it's up to us to choose which path we want to take.
